These areas refer to the five key domains of intervention that CrAFt's New European Bauhaus Impact Model considers essential for guiding and evaluating complex urban initiatives.
The participation level refers to the degree or extent to which individuals or groups are actively involved or engaged in a particular activity, project, or process. It assesses the depth of their involvement, contributions, and commitment, ranging from minimal or passive participation to active and dedicated participation.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) aims to promote the values of sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion in the design and transformation of urban spaces. It emphasises the integration of environmental, social, and economic considerations to create harmonious and innovative living environments.
According to the Smart City Guidance Package, there are seven stages to plan and implement smart city projects. These stages propose a logical and coherent roadmap for city initiatives involving many stakeholders.
In this video essay, Elham, an interactive multimedia designer and a proud member of Craft Group 3, introduces herself as a recent graduate with a master’s degree in digital design from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. She creates generative art by blending technology with creativity, using sensors, boards, and programming.
Elham shares her love for the cosy, welcoming streets of the Netherlands, particularly the charming alleyways steeped in history. She describes how walking through these streets makes her feel as though she is living within a vibrant narrative rich in culture and art. Elham treasures unexpected discoveries, such as hidden cafés and gardens in the heart of Haarlem, where people from diverse backgrounds come together to share moments.
If she could change one aspect of city life, Elham would advocate for more places—like cafés and shops—to remain open later, particularly during the colder months. She envisions the streets filled with the warmth of lights and conversations, creating a lively atmosphere that enhances the communal experience in the evenings.
